Fold down TV lifts are devices that are built into ceilings or high, solid structures that can fold down and extend from the ceiling whenever you want to watch TV. There are all kinds of uses for this type of TV lift, but what exactly should you be looking for when buying one?

The first thing that should always be looked at when looking at different fold down TV lift models is the construction. Fold down TV lifts are much more than brackets attached to ceiling tiles; they are solid framed structures that will fit inside your ceiling. One of the most common types of frames is aluminum but today you can find them in other types of materials including crs  and stainless steel. This frame should include a panel that your television can be securely attached to. This will prevent the TV from slipping or sliding while it’s in motion, which could be disastrous for your TV.

Also make sure that once the fold down TV lift has come down from the ceiling that the TV lift can rotate to allow for different viewing angles. Many fold down TV lifts today have the ability to rotate and swivel but some simply lower the TV lift from the ceiling and the way it’s facing is the way it will stay.

Of course, always make sure that you have plenty of room in the ceiling structure to hold a fold down TV lift. Keep in mind that you’ll need not only enough room for you television in there, but also the frame of the TV lift that will hold it. If you have ceiling tiles or the ceiling is otherwise movable, you may be able to check and measure for yourself before purchasing the TV lift. However, if you don’t think you can get into your ceiling and you don’t have any way of knowing how much room is there, call a fold down TV lift manufacturer that will be able to determine whether your ceiling is equipped to handle a fold down TV lift.

Making the decision to buy a fold down TV lift is a great one! But make sure that you take a few things into consideration before buying one, so that you don’t end up disappointed with the final result. Also remember that even if a fold down TV lift isn’t for you, there are many other types of TV lifts including pop-up TVs that can be great alternatives!
