Lately, there’s plenty of discussion about how high you should hang your television wall mounts for best viewing. Some say to eye level. Others have different ideas. The truth is, there isn’t one single height that works best for everyone. How high to hang your TV swivel or television wall mounts for best viewing hinges on several factors.
The most important factor (and the one all other factors ultimately tie into) is where you will be watching it from. You ultimately want your television wall mounts to position your TV so you get the best view of it from where you will actually be sitting when you watch it. Of course, if you are using a TV swivel, you will want to consider all places from which you will be viewing.
For most people, the best height for a mounted television is just above eye level. The bottom of the television should be at eye level when you are seated, with the top of the television at roughly eye level when you are standing. Of course, the size of your television may not allow you to meet those exact parameters, so you may need to spend some time finding the height which works best for you.
The problem with doing that, of course, is that once television wall mounts are mounted on the wall, it’s a bit of a pain to change them around. Your best bet (unless it’s too late) is to determine the height you would like the TV at before you mount it. Do this by sitting in the places where you would normally sit to watch TV and looking at the wall where television will be mounted. Where do your eyes naturally and comfortably fall? This is likely to be the best place to place your television.
Another thing to watch out for is lighting. Even if you have found the perfect height for your television, you’re not going to enjoy watching it if light from the windows throws a glare on the screen when you’re watching. Before mounting the TV, make sure the wall where you want to hang the TV swivel isn’t bathed in too much sunlight, either in the morning or in the afternoon.
